How can you avoid that someone who has access to your premises uses unauthorised devices in your network? LANs are normally well protected against attacks from outside, but who notices when an employee or an external visitor connects his notebook or his PDA to the network?

macmon continuously monitors the LAN and detects third-party devices. Once an intruder is detected, macmon triggers flexibly adjustable actions that range from sending an email to the administrator to blocking the switch ports used by the undesirable visitor.

macmon is not bound to certain manufacturers of network components and works independent of producers with all switches manageable through SNMP.

The implementation of an access control with macmon is easy. The operator is not bound to a uniform structure of his network components, independent from determined terminal device classes and does not need to implement additional VLAN structures.
